Obituary
Irene V. Lund

Irene V. Lund (nee Marosi), 96, of Edison, entered into eternal rest Friday, June 10, 2011, at her home, after a very long illness. She was born June 2, 1915 in Perth Amboy and had lived there until moving to Fords and then onto Edison, where she has resided for the last 54 years in the home she and her husband, Victor built. Irene had been employed for many years with N.J. Bell Telephone Co. After her retirement, she traveled to many countries around the world. Never idle, she loved walking, exercising, playing bridge and other games and spending time with her family. She even tried cross country skiing in Norway at the Winter Olympics. Irene loved nature and was a master gardener. She could always be counted on to provide a delicious cake for whatever occasion called for one, and was well-known for her hospitality. She was a lifetime member of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Perth Amboy, where she had been very active in its Women's Guild and other activities. Irene was also a life member of the Telecom Pioneers, and a member of the Woodbridge Garden Club, the Order of the Eastern Star - Mt. Zion Chapter, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the AARP Metuchen Chapter, among other organizations.
She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Julia Marosi; her stepmother, Ethel Marosi; her beloved husband, Victor; her brothers, the Reverend Stephen W. Marosy, Charles Marosi Jr., and Geza Marosi; her great-niece, Susan Slocum; her great-nephew, Robert Meelheim; and her nephew, Robert Lund. Irene is survived and will be greatly missed by her loving caregiver, Agi Farkas; her nieces, Eileen Meelheim, Susan Von Dongen, Mary Alice Berlino, and Ruth Lund; her nephew and his wife, Carl and Maria Lund, as well as her great-nieces and nephews, David Meelheim, Lori DeVries and family, Beth Von Dongen and Jim Von Dongen and family; and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation hours will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 12 at the Mitruska Funeral Home, 531 New Brunswick Ave., Fords. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 13 at the funeral home, followed by services at 11:30 a.m. at the Hungarian Reformed Church, Perth Amboy. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Hopelawn. Memorial donations may be made to the Magyar Reformed Church, 331 Kirkland Place, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.
