  Lincoln County Valley Journal 06 29 1994 Page 5 Sophie Sorensen Sophie Sorensen was born January 9, 1904 at Lake Benton MN. To John and Dorthea Olsen Pedersen. She attended rural school and one year of normal training in Lake Benton and then taught in rural school for a short time. She married Carl Magnus Sorensen of February 21, 1925 at Marshall, MN. After their marriage the couple farmed in Diamond Lake Township, Lincoln County, MN on her family's home place. Sophie enjoyed handiwork and working around the farm. She was a member of the Lake Benton United Methodist Church and the Ladies Aide. Sophie died Friday, June 24, 1994 at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 90 years, five months and 15 days. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 29, 1994, 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Lake Benton with Pastor Brenda King officiating. Marian Brown was organist and the congregation sand "How Great Thou Art", and "Rock of Ages". Casket bearers were Bryan Sorensen, Robert Briffett, Lyle Trautman, Robert Hauck, Scott Trautman and Nels Jorgensen. Interment was at Diamond Lake Cemetery, Diamond Lake Township, Lincoln County, Minnesota. Utoft-Johansen Funeral Home, Lake Benton, Evan Rogers, director, made arrangements. She is survived by two sons, James K. Sorensen, Lake Benton and Calvin Sorensen, Lynn MA; one daughter, Patricia Newell, Humboldt, IA; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on February 24, 1991 and one sister. Web obituary
