CARL M. SORENSEN
Carl Sorensen was born Marh 20, 1897 at Beder, Denmark to Rasmus and and Petra (Flink) Sorensen. In 1921 he emigrated to the United States and settled in the Tyler area. He married Sophie Pedersen on February 21, 1925 in Marshall, MN. After marriage they began to work the family farm north of Lake Benton. He continued to work the farm until very recently when his health prevented him from doing so.
Carl died Sunday, Feb. 24, 1991 at the Pipestone County Skilled Nursing Facility at the age of 93 years, 11 months and four days.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 27, 1991 at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church, Lake Benton. Rev. Cindy Gregorson was the officiating minister. Marion Brown served as organist and congregational hymns used were "Rock Of Ages" and "How Great Thou Art"
Honorary casket bearers included James Jennings, Glenn Krog, Nels Jorgensen, Neal Jennings, Gerald Thomsen and Kenneth Nordmeyer. Casket bearers were Bryan Sorensen, Robert Hauck, Scott Trautman, Michael Newell, Robert Briffett, and Lyle Trautman.
Interment was at Diamond Lake Cemetery. Utoft-Johansen Funeral Home, Evan Rogers, director, made the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Sophie of Lake Benton; two sons, Calvin of Lynn, MA, and James of Lake Benton; one daughter, Patricia Newell of Humbolt, IA. Seven Grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.
