- Mrs. J.C. Jensen Service Thursday
Ane Marie Jensen, daughter of Hans Bjornholdt Sorensen and Ahelona Sorensen was born July 18, 1868, at Aarhus Jutland, Denmark and passed away Dec. 27, 1953, at Hay Springs, at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 9 days.
She came to this country with her parents at the age of 13 and settled in Howard county. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith as a child and in which she remained faithful until the end.
She was married April 7, 1887, to J. C. Jensen. To this union twelve children were born, five sons and seven daughters.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, her husband, parents, two brothers and two sisters.
She was a kind and devoted wife and mother, respected and loved by neighbors and friends. A sincere Christian.
Surviving are the children Edward, Godtfred and Mrs. Lydia Skow, Junction City, Ore. Mrs. Sophie Dahl, Mrs. Ingeborg Stiehl, Mrs. Thora Heiting and Ijnar all of Hay Springs; Viggo and Axel of Newell, Ia., Mrs. Ella Larsen, Marquette; Mrs. Rose Boesen, Boelus; 38 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Rushville and the body brought to Dannebrog. Final service was Thursday afternoon at the Nysted Lutheran church, Rev. Arnold Knudsen was the officiating pastor.
The following hymns were sung by the congregation. "The Lord's My," "O Love That Will Not Let Me Go,"Love from God Our Lord."
Mrs. Arnold Krogh was the musician. The pallbearers were: Richard Sorensen, Orville Sorensen, Frode Madsen, Louis C. Jacobsen, Anton Faaborg, Harry Petersen.
She was laid to rest in the Nysted cemetery. The Jacobsen Mortuary had charge of the arrangements.
Relatives present from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Viggo Jensen and Axel Jensen all of Newell, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Larsen, Kronborg, Mrs. Sophie Dahl, Mrs. Clarence Stiehl, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Heiting, Mr. and Mrs. Ijnar Jensen all of Hay Springs; Mrs. and Mrs. Richart Dietz, Grand Island; Soren Sorensen and daughter-in-law, of Rockville; Mr. and Mrs. Eric Johansen, Levi Nellis, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stennicki, all of Omaha; Holger Foged, Hans Foged both of Cozad.
After the services lunch was served in the church parlor, sponsored by the Nysted Ladies Aid.
