BETTY JANE CHRISTENSEN, 83 years old of Spring Grove, IL passed away Sat. Feb. 5, 2011 at her home. She was born May 3, 1927 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan the daughter of the late Edwin and Doris (Scott) Johnson. She had worked as a clerk for the former William Brothers Department Store, Barnstable and Brogans, and Jackie’s Hallmark in Antioch. On April 2, 1949 she married John Christensen in Antioch and he preceded her in death on March 18, 1987. She had lived in Bristol, WI since 1978 before moving in Spring Grove in 2008. Betty loved to make blankets for project Linus for children in need; she also enjoyed bead work, and making key chains and ornaments. She was a Cub Scout den mother for many years.
Survivors include her son Michael and his wife Pat of Ingleside, IL; her beloved companion Lisa Meierdirk and her husband Wayne, and their children Donna and Dana; with whom she made her home.
Visitation for Betty will be held from 4:00 until 8:00PM Wed. Feb. 9, 2011 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch, IL. Interment of her ashes will be later at Home Oak Cemetery, Lake Villa Township, IL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Antioch Fire Department or Rescue Squad, in her memory.
